What is the typical estrous cycle interval in guinea pigs?

15-17 days

Guinea pigs have a regular, relatively short estrous cycle that repeats about every 15–17 days. The female is receptive for only a brief window within that cycle, so mating during that short estrus aligns with the cycle’s timing. This two-week rhythm is why 15–17 days is the typical interval.

Other intervals don’t fit the species: 28 days is associated with humans or dogs, 60–90 days implies a much longer cycle or different reproductive pattern, and 7–10 days is too short for a complete cycle in guinea pigs.
